prowlerstud74So I am sure all of you prowler owners feel and maybe or maybe not hate the ride because of how rough it is. Well I really love the car but the ride is so rough!

Has anyone figured out what to do to enhance the ride and make it more comfy to drive?

Larry LordMany people have installed my Wonder Bars to soften the ride. I have them in stock and ready to ship.

ClayDDoes your car have the run flat tires? Made a HUGE difference on mine when I put non-run flats on it.
prowlerstud74Hello Larry,
Thank you for the info. Thats not a cheap piece of metal. How much difference ware we talking about?
prowlerstud74Hello Clay,
Don't mean to be ignorant. But are the stock tires run flats? I have never replaced the original tires.
401KATwonder bar and conventional tires....major change in ride
Larry LordI'll let others answer that question. I'm sure some will help.

I'm always hesitant to make any promises but I will say that I offer a 100% satisfaction guaranty and have never had one returned.

I think they all came with run flats since there's no spare tire. If you still have the original factory tires, they're too old anyway, possibly subject to failure, according to some of the discussions about that on this forum.

ed monahanDAY & NIGHT difference when you ditch the runflats. You will be truly amazed.
Larry's Wonder Bar makes a BIG diff. especially on the 97 & 99's. Worth the money, I had a 99 that would slide into the next lane on a bumpy stretch. I put on the Wonder Bar and took it to that exact stretch of road and it stayed where it belonged. That was about 15 years ago, maybe 17 yrs.
Prowzrun-flats can be a good choice
George JohnsonAfter installing Larry's Wonder Bar, the car felt like driving independent suspension vs straight axle. HUGE difference!!
robinSo three major things to check.
Run Flats 20 years old change them.
Check all shocks to make sure they haven't leaked out.
Wonder Bar ..Never heard a bad thing about it.

Rough roads and prowlers don't go well together.

CAT-A-TONICThere are several different options to tone down or control the harsh ride. 97's and 99's are the harsher rides of the years built. I'm not sure how much ride difference there is between those and the 2000's forward.

Another option that will totally change the ride is a proper front suspension brace. I'm not talking about some rinky dink bar stock. My "C" brace that's bolted between the front bumper mounts changed the ride so dramatically that I went from not wanting to take the car out to drive it anytime. I didn't roll 50' away from my house before I realized how much the brace altered the ride. It was amazing when I first installed it and it still is now. Went from having been as far as I'm concerned, beaten up, to what one would call a normal roadster ride.

Brace is cut 1/4" thick aluminum plate. In the shape of a "C" or an "E" with the center of the E cut off. Once bolted in place it totally got rid of frame twist and let the shocks do their job. Stopped all the front end bouncing and that stopped all the road irregularities from coming through the entire car. Side and rear view mirrors functional along with doing away with excessive cowl shake.

After having this brace in place I can honestly say I would never drive one of these cars without the brace installed. The ride is never going to be like a 300 but at least now I have no second thoughts about driving my car. And the best part was I never had to alter/modify the car.

Marty UsherLike a lot of others have posted.....get new, non run-flat tires and a Wonderbar.

You won't believe you are driving the same car.

DarthProwlerDump the run flats! Regular tires make a huuuuge difference.
Landscape DoctorX2,,, non run flats alone will make ride much better. Wonder Bar will make the Prowler smoother as well.

This is interesting would love to see photos, I have access to our 3,000 watt fiber laser and could make these out of .187 or .250 easily.

BeWareHere is a picture of the suspension brace we have on our Prowler. These were sold by Jay Harris (Yellercat) back in the day. It has been on our Prowler since Feb 2004. It has two mounting points of each side. Four in total.

CAT-A-TONICBeware that is exactly what I was talking about. I don't have that fancy cat(wish I did) engraved into mine but it bolts into the exact same location. I know you MUST have felt a major difference in the ride. I know when I put my brace on I didn't roll 50 feet away from my house and the difference in the ride floored me.

But after a extensive ride with the brace,...stopped the majority of frame twist, stopped the front end from bouncing around, stopped a vast majority of cowl shake, all the mirrors were actually usable, stopped front tires from bouncing all over the road, road irregularities now being dampened by the coil overs. It was so dramatic I would never drive my car again with out a brace installed.

BeWareYes I did notice a big difference.
RobsBlue01Looks like I need to start designing one, just finished the Kat....we have a 3000 watt fiber laser at work and tons of stainless

RJ RILEYJust had the wonder bar installed and Continental tires. Fantastic ride
prowltimeI put on a Wonder Bar, Falken Azenis tires in the rear and Michelin Primacy MXM4's in the front and the ride is very nice now.
